We’re on our way…
“A Brand New Season of Plays…”
In 2026, if all goes to plan, we’ll be rolling out the first of an annual touring rep season of new plays all across Wales. This season will appear at multiple venues simultaneously, with a different play opening at a different venue on the same night before embarking on a nationwide tour. If successful, we will return the following year with another season of new plays (maybe more this time) and thus begin our aim to scale up theatre production in Wales by supplying venues with a steady pipeline of quality new work and providing audiences with more choice than ever before.
We have the theatres, we have the know-how; all we need are the plays
“An Open Call Out…”
We are looking for original works from new and existing writers. Both completed scripts and developing works can be submitted, and virtually all styles and genres will be considered. Those plays considered commercially and artistically viable will be shortlisted and optioned. From there we’ll enter a fast-track development phase, resulting in a final selection of plays destined for the 2026 season.
“We want Flesh & Blood Stories”
This is not another ‘writers scheme’. Neither is it a blind-ended ‘writing competition’ (as judged by a panel of ‘experts’) but a search for well-rounded, well-crafted plays – with Flesh & Blood Stories at their heart- that are demanding enough to require the talents of a gifted cast and a skilled director. Moreover, it’s a search for plays that will be popular with audiences.
“Submit a Script (or Project)”
Though looking for stage-plays, we’ll also consider screenplays (suitable for adaptation to the stage), along with outlines and treatments (suitable for long term development). All submissions will be read and assessed by a qualified team of readers and editors, and all formatting requirements and submission criteria can be found on our Submission Guide. You can submit as many scripts or projects as you like via our Submission Page.
“Enhance Your Writing…”
We want to hear from you if you like to work fast, well and want to get your work performed. We also want to hear from you if you want to learn more about how this is done. Launching in 2025, we will be holding a series of story seminars designed to delineate industry practices while demystifying the technical bases for successful dramatic writing (tilted towards playwriting but will inevitably include screenwriting). Held regionally, these seminars will be free to join and will contain the kind of formal (often costly) learning that can advance individual careers (whether this involves us or not!)
